Document Witnessing Services

A Commissioner for Oaths is a person appointed by the Lord Chancellor with power to administer oaths or take affidavits. All practicing solicitors have these powers.

If you have a document that needs to be "sworn" or "declared" before a solicitor, we can assist you. This is common for insolvency documents, change of name deeds, or declarations for foreign jurisdictions.

We aim to make this process as quick and simple as possible. Appointments are usually very brief (5-10 minutes).

Important Requirement: You must bring valid, original photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence) to your appointment. We strictly cannot accept photocopies or scans.

Fixed Fees

We offer a transparent fixed fee for this service to keep things simple.

£10.00 per document

Payment can be made by cash or card at our reception when you attend your appointment.

What To Bring

Please ensure you have the following before attending our office.

1. The Document

Bring the document you need witnessing. Do not sign it yet. You must sign it in the presence of the solicitor for it to be valid.

2. Original ID

You must bring a valid Passport or Photocard Driving Licence. We are required to verify the identity of the person swearing the oath. No Copies.

3. Payment

The fee is £10.00 per document. If you have exhibits attached to your document, additional small statutory fees may apply.

Arrange a Visit

While we often accommodate walk-ins, we recommend calling ahead to ensure a solicitor is available.
